Day-to-Day Responsibilities
As a Coder III – OB/GYN, your core duties include complex coding for inpatient and outpatient OB/GYN procedures. You will abstract CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes from medical records.
Part of your role is to communicate with physicians and healthcare staff for clarification and provide feedback on documentation. You’ll use advanced software tools like Epic and apply coding rules as per payer and regulatory requirements.
You must maintain strong attention to detail when coding global and non-global deliveries and other OB/GYN-specific procedures. Keeping up-to-date on regulations and participating in department meetings are also expected.
