Farm Staff
Full-time farm staff at Joyfully Organic Farm. Salary between $156,000 and $182,000 yearly. Great for those committed to sustainable agriculture, includes staff housing and career path options.
What You’ll Do Day-to-Day
The daily responsibilities as a Farm Staff member are both varied and physical. You will help plant, cultivate, and harvest over 50 vegetable varieties each week.
The position requires you to work closely with a small team, ensuring crops meet excellent organic standards and CSA, market, and wholesale accounts are filled.
Expect to engage in greenhouse work, harvesting, packing for CSA, and marketing at select events. Your work week includes five full days and two market shifts a month.
With the option of shared, attractive accommodations, you can focus more on your career development and less on commute and housing stress.
Joyfully Organic Farm values efficient systems, so you’ll be supported with clear training, steady feedback, and a strong sense of teamwork throughout the season.
Pros
One major advantage is the professional growth potential. Those who stay beyond one season gain management and planning responsibilities, with clear pay increases.
Another pro is the array of benefits: free vegetables, affordable farm team housing, social events, plus discounts on pro gear and access to livestock work for variety and interest.
Cons
The work is physically demanding and outdoors in all weather. If you’re new to manual labour or dislike unpredictable climates, this could be a drawback.
Also, the fast-paced, highly structured team environment may not suit those seeking solitary or low-pressure roles, as expectations are clearly set and tracked.
Verdict
If you have at least one season’s farming or related outdoor experience, love a purposeful, team-oriented job, and want to advance in organic farming, this is a rewarding option.
With strong compensation, real promotion potential, and a vibrant work environment, Joyfully Organic Farm is a great place for those seriously considering a long-term agricultural career.
