About the Job

This Recreation and Park Aide position on the CWOW Team is a part-time, seasonal job offering up to 40 hours per week at $15/hour.

Roles are designed for those who enjoy active work with youth ages 6–17, running day camps and events across the city during June and July.

Applicants don’t need extensive prior experience—just enthusiasm, dependability, and a willingness to help youth learn and grow.

Some positions are open to applicants 18 and older with a valid driver’s license, especially if interested in driving a camp passenger van.

Hours, locations, and specific tasks may vary, but all selected aides become vital to a positive camp experience.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Main duties include supervising kids during games, arts & crafts, water park trips, and other recreation activities within summer camps.

Staff set up and take down sports equipment, organize supplies, maintain facilities, and enforce proper conduct and safety rules daily.

Occasional responsibilities involve assisting with field trips to local parks or the zoo and helping distribute free lunches to eligible campers.

Some days may require supporting grounds upkeep, from collecting debris to helping maintain play areas and athletic fields.

Staff may also help with basic admin or record-keeping and, in some cases, handle facility openings or other camp logistics as needed.

Pros: Why Consider This Role?

This seasonal position is ideal for energetic, upbeat individuals seeking hands-on, meaningful work that impacts local youth.

The pay rate is competitive for entry-level jobs at $15/hour, and you can work full-time hours during the busy summer months.

Camp environments are vibrant, lively, and filled with chance to learn leadership and teamwork skills valuable for future roles.

You’ll enjoy a variety of daily activities—no two workdays are the same—and form positive connections with campers and fellow staff.

Cons: Considerations Before Applying

This role requires constant energy—you’ll be on your feet much of the day, indoors and outdoors, sometimes in summer heat.

Hours and location assignments can shift based on camp needs, so flexibility and adaptability are a must.

Those preferring predictable, quiet work may find the energetic, high-interaction environment challenging.

Verdict: Is This Job Right for You?

If you’re outgoing, love kids, value community impact, and want a well-compensated summer job, this Recreation and Park Aide role is a terrific fit.

The mix of hands-on activity, leadership opportunities, and fair pay make it a solid option for students, young adults, or anyone enthusiastic about supporting local youth.
